This was the first year of this periodical which was started in order to take down in short-hand the sermons of the two factions in the schism which had appeared in the Yearly Meetings of the Philadelphia Friends. Mr.Gould was employed by the joint consent of both parties to record verbatim and thus individuals would be able to judge for themselves as to the truth. Interspersed are short extracts from scripture and earlier Quakers including William Penn.
